Thermoforming equipment converts plastic sheet into cups, trays or portion packages by heating and forming the material, then may fill and seal the package within the same line. Other systems use preformed cups that are indexed through filling and sealing stations. In both cases, accurate motion, temperature control, dosing, sealing pressure and package handling depend on many coordinated mechanical components.
Typical requests may include forming and sealing tools, heating blocks, electrodes, cutting components, guides, chains, grippers, carriers, indexing parts, pins, bushings, rollers, dosing or filling components and other precision-machined items. The correct specification depends on whether the machine forms packages from rollstock or handles preformed cups, as well as the product, packaging material and format.
A thermoforming replacement part may be exposed to heat, pressure, cleaning chemicals, food product or repeated cutting and sealing cycles. Material, coating, surface finish and dimensional stability can be as important as the visible geometry.
For package-specific parts, provide the cup, tray or portion drawing, film or sheet information and seal layout. A worn tool or carrier may no longer reflect the clearances needed for reliable forming, indexing or cutting, so drawings and a known-good position can improve the review.
Provide the machine manufacturer, model, serial number, station and known reference. Identify whether the part belongs to heating, forming, filling, sealing, cutting, transport or discharge. Include the product, package format, material and required quantity.
When no replacement can be identified, UM can evaluate a drawing, sample or 3D scan. Reverse engineering is considered after the part’s function, material, tolerances and contact conditions have been established.

Form-fill-seal equipment creates the package from rollstock before filling and sealing it. Preformed-cup machines receive finished cups or tubs and move them through filling and sealing stations. The tooling, carriers and handling components are therefore different. Preformed cups require carriers and denesting systems that are not used in the same way on FFS lines.
Cup, tray, lid and seal geometry determine clearances, forming profiles, cutting locations and package handling. A package drawing or accurate sample helps define the contact surfaces and prevents a part from being copied from a worn component with incorrect dimensions.
