UM's Universal retrofit manifold converts a Sidel Series 2 (S2) or S2+ blow molder to Universal style manifold. It cuts the dead-space volume at each station, so less high-pressure air is wasted on every blowing cycle, and it lets you run UM's Universal compact valves, the best-performing valves in our catalog.
Dead space is the volume between the valves and the bottle that is filled with high-pressure air and exhausted on every cycle. Measured dead-space volume per station:
On customer lines, the UM manifold has reduced blowing-air consumption by about 2% to 8%, or roughly 15 to 120 CFM, depending on the machine, the original setup and the output.
Plants that run both S2 and Universal machines can stock a single valve type across all of them, which simplifies spare-parts inventory. Compared with the stock S2 setup, the manifold also gives better performance and easier maintenance.
UM supplies manifolds for cold-set and heat-set machines, with 3, 4 or 5 valves, including a recovery-ready version. To estimate your air savings, send us your current valve setup (stock manifold or stacked valves; a photo helps), your current air consumption in CFM, your output in bottles per hour and your average blowing pressure.
Every retrofit manifold is built for the machine it goes on. To identify the right configuration, contact us to request our Universal Retrofit Manifold machine audit form, then send it back to us completed, with the requested photos.
The form covers the machine generation (S2 or S2+), the number of stations, cold-set or heat-set process, blow nozzle and pilot valve type, recovery system, pneumatic hoses and connections, and your choice of compact or standard valves. A technician needs only a measuring tape, a caliper and a camera to complete it.

It depends on your current setup, output and blowing pressure. On customer lines, savings have ranged from about 2% to 8% of blowing air. Send us your setup, CFM, bottles per hour and blowing pressure for an estimate.
The manifold takes Universal valves. We recommend the UM Universal compact valves, which have fewer components and a service life of more than five years.
Yes. UM supplies conversions for both S2 and S2+ machines, in cold-set and heat-set versions.
Send us an OEM part number, a drawing, a photo or a sample and our team will confirm availability and compatibility.
