Improved 3-Way Valves for Sidel Series 1 Blow Molders

The 3-way valves on a Sidel Series 1 (S1) blow molder switch the blowing air at each station and open and close for every bottle. Air leaks are the main failure mode of the OEM valve, which typically lasts no more than six months. UM's improved S1 3-way valve is a direct replacement, designed to stay in service far longer and to be rebuilt instead of replaced.

What UM Improved

UM redesigned the sealing system to eliminate the air leaks common on OEM valves:

  • A stepped body: the valve slides into its bore more easily and the O-rings are protected during insertion, so they are not cut or pinched at assembly.
  • A rod seal instead of a quad ring, for a more durable seal on the moving rod.
  • An added guiding element that keeps the rod aligned and reduces uneven wear.

The UM valve is a true drop-in replacement: it fits your existing S1 setup with no modifications.

Up to Two Years in Service

A simple rebuild every 9 to 12 months keeps the UM valve performing like new for up to two years, four times the typical life of the OEM valve. The OEM valve has no economical rebuild option. UM is the only supplier of the improved S1 3-way valve and its rebuild kit.

Available Versions

UM supplies the valve in the flow versions used on Series 1 machines: high flow, high flow with middle exhaust, low flow and extra low flow, each with a matching rebuild kit. To order, send the OEM part number or a photo of the valve label, the machine model and the quantity.

Frequently asked questions

Which flow version do I need?

It depends on where the valve is installed and what it does on your machine. The OEM part number identifies it directly. Otherwise, send a photo of the valve and its location, or a sample.

How often should the UM valve be rebuilt?

Every 9 to 12 months. The UM rebuild kit contains the seals and wear parts needed to restore the valve on site, and keeps it performing like new for up to two years.

Why do OEM S1 valves leak?

Air leaks around the seals are the most common failure. O-rings damaged during installation and a misaligned rod speed up the wear. The UM design addresses these with its stepped body, rod seal and guiding element.
