Cams for Sidel Blow Molders

Cams drive the stretching, locking, mold opening and closing, base and transfer movements on a Sidel blow molder. A worn cam profile disturbs machine timing, increases vibration and wears the cam followers. UM manufactures more than 100 Sidel cam models for Series 2, S2+, Universal and Matrix machines.

Deeper Hardening, Longer Life

UM cams use a different hardening process than the OEM. The surface is hardened to 58–60 HRC to a depth of 1 to 1.5 mm, four to five times deeper than the OEM hardening. A deeper hardened layer keeps the cam profile accurate for much longer.

Short Lead Times

About 80% of our cams can be delivered within two weeks. UM keeps around 15 of the most popular cams on the shelf, and uses pre-machined blanks for up, down, open and close cams, so they can be produced quickly in an emergency.

Ordering the Right Cam

Send the OEM part number, the machine model (for example SBO 20) and the cam function. Inspect the cam followers when you replace a cam: worn followers will quickly damage a new cam profile.

Frequently asked questions

Which Sidel machines does UM make cams for?

UM makes more than 100 cam models for Sidel Series 2, S2+, Universal and Matrix blow molders. Send the OEM part number to confirm availability.

How quickly can UM deliver a cam?

About 80% of cams can be delivered within two weeks. Popular cams are kept in stock, and up, down, open and close cams are made from pre-machined blanks for faster production.

Why does hardening depth matter?

The cam followers wear through the hardened layer over time. A layer four to five times deeper keeps the profile accurate much longer before the cam needs replacing.
