UM-HPM is UM's industrial presence in France: a precision machining and tooling facility in Bordes, near Pau, serving French and European manufacturers as part of the UM group.
UM-HPM was founded in 1970 as Hourat SAS, later known as Hourat Précision Mécanique, in Bordes in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. For more than five decades the company has machined precision parts and tooling for demanding industries — aeronautics, energy, nuclear, rail, defence, tooling and food. In 2025 it joined UM Inc. and took the UM-HPM name.
For UM, the acquisition brought a European manufacturing site, an experienced team and capabilities that complement our Quebec plant. For UM-HPM's customers, it brought the backing of a Canadian industrial group with nearly fifty years in the packaging industry.
